For starters, I decided against going to the light show, because standing in line and walking home in the cold, windy weather was enough nature for me today. But of course, I made it to the Winter Palace, at long last.
Today is Hermitage Day, so the entrance is free to all guests (Even though it's free with my student ID regardless). The first time I arrived was through the group entrance, so actually being able to use the courtyard was quite amazing, especially since I haven't seen it before.
Upon walking in, getting a ticket, and grabbing a map, I made my way upstairs, and started my expedition through the 2nd floor of the Hermitage. What I wasn't expecting was the massive size of the whole palace. Like, seriously, It was difficult to make a circle around the palace, mainly because of how the whole place is orientated. I had to go through different places, walk back through exhibits, and ask several times where to go. Talk about frustrating.
I don't want to post pictures in the middle of the post, because I took about 404, and orientating them will be more than annoying. Now, I can comment on my massive enjoyment of the Golden Room, which you will see later on, Peter's Room, The Throne Room, The Malachite Room, and my favorite place of all, the Library. I don't know how the Emperor's lived here and not get lost, because even if I lived there, I would never find my way out. The signs and maps were super helpful.
Now, enjoy the whole slew of pictures from the 2nd floor, because it took me nearly 4 hours to get through the 2nd floor, and by the end of it, I was starving, so I bought a donut. So, looks like I'll have to return and see the last two floors. Looks like I'll have to keep you on the edge of your seats!
Now, from a few days ago....
The dates were amazing, The sausage chips were okay, the Shrimp ones were horrible, and the sunset made my favorite spot in the city look beautiful. Also, we had the costumers inviting me to take a picture with them. Like, please, I don't want to spend money on that. Also, I understood their quick russian, so that was awesome.
