This afternoon, I made my way down to Saint Michael's Castle, which was the residency and the location of the murder for Emperor Pavel I, which ironically, was meant to be a location where he couldn't be reached.
This location has been turned to an extension of the Russian Museum, and houses several works of art and artifacts pertaining to Russia. It is a small museum of course, and many of the halls are empty, but it is still interesting.
The rumor is, you can hear and see Pavel's ghost from time to time, and Dostoevsky even wrote about it during his time in the military academy. Unfortunately, I neither saw or heard him, probably because I used the informal Russian you to an emperor. Oops.
My adventures in Russia and the surrounding areas for the year. (The music can be paused at the bottom of the page. And the blog archive is right below this, so read everything!)
