With emotions running high, I am sad to say that my time spend studying abroad has come to a close. While not physically crying, my soul is being torn away from the place that I have come to love, and I know that a year or more is too long for me to be away from the one thing that has made me content.
I don't want to leave Saint-Petersburg, but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. One of my goals is to return as soon as possible, finish seeing everything that I had not been able to see during my time here, and continue travelling throughout Russia.
If someone told me 5 years ago, that I would fall in complete and absolute love with Russia, over the infatuation I had with Germany at the time, I would have called them crazy, but now, I can't stand to leave a country with who I feel right at home, and enjoy the cuisine. Sure, the government might be kinda crappy, but when I came to Russia, up until my time in leaving, not only has my Russian drastically improved, I came to learn how I am as a person, I achieved one of my dreams of becoming published, even if it is just on a random Russian website, but above all, I reached a sense of happiness that can only be achieved by being back in Saint-Petersburg.
I would like to thank the CIE and Russian Department, because, without them, this trip would have been near impossible. I would like to thank the staff at Bard-Smolny, for helping me along throughout the year, and increasing my Russian ability, I would like to thank the two VLI's I had my freshman and sophomore year, Irina and Guzel, and my Russian Tutor, Anastasia.
This has been a wonderful year, and for all the readers of this blog, this blog isn't closing. Just think of it as a hiatus. Until the next post, thank you for coming Into The Motherland with Roberto.
