Doesn't The Czar Just Love To Throw Balls?

October 10, 2016

Oh, what a dreadful Sunday morning! After having spent my Saturday evening reading (until 1:34 AM if I may say), I woke up exhausted! I could have woken up hungover, but, after reading the Third Tome of War and Peace, I can say that it is quite similar, especially with the lateness of the hour applied to it. My body also felt as it had become one with the bed, not responding to my movements, and once I awoke, it only responded by sending shocks of pain from my core and outwards. That is feeling of waking up after leg day.

Continuing the day after waking up, I presumed to play video games. Having done all of my work on Friday evening, and then reading on Saturday evening, I decided to enjoy the so called day of rest, which I took off as one of my two days out of the gym, the other day being Thursday (classes from 9 AM to 8 PM are never fun). Following that, I decided to iron a few of my shirts, and a pair of pants, since I was heading to a ballroom dancing course.

Heading off on to Sadovaya (Purple Line), I headed north to Крестовский Остров (Krestovsky Island), and from there met with my classmates, and headed towards Елагинский Дворец (Yelagin Palace). While waiting for our program coordinators to buy the tickets, there was a nice band playing in front of the place where we were going to have dinner.

Upon entering a smaller manor (The palace was closed for renovations), we were sent upstairs in order to change into our costumes for our Ballroom Dance lesson, and much to my dismay, I ironed my pants for no reason at all, even though we were told to bring it. I could have worn more comfortable jeans!

Well, after a slight disappointment, I achieved one of my life-long dreams. I finally was able to dress up as a Tsar (General, maybe? It had a picture of Alexander the First right above it). Adorning myself in a black and gold uniform and hat with a feather, I proceeded downstairs to the dance studio, in which everyone was going crazy about just how great we looked.

Well, we started dancing of course. And to be honest, while it was completely fun, I am a complete klutz who can't dance due to my two left feet. I really hope that I didn't embarrass myself completely while doing this.

After our 2 hour long course, we started taking group pictures, and of course, I just had to have a picture with the only other Juniata student!

Upon going upstairs, undressing, and getting back into our modern day clothing, and exiting the building, my friend Johnathan, made the interesting comment, that we hadn't really left the time period at all. You have the elite upper class coming out of a fancy ball, only to see peasants (costruction workers) working in ditches. It was quite hilarious in my opinion.

And that is all folks! I came home and decided to speak with a few friends, and of course, annoy people on the internet!
