136 years ago on this fateful day, on March 13th, 1881, Emperor Alexander II was assassinated by Ignacy Hryniewiecki near the Mikhailovsky Palace. In memory of the Emperor, a cathedral was built on this exact location, which is now marked as the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood.
I just wanted to go there on the exact date this event occurred, and knowing that there were all these tourists there that didn't know when it occurred, and just thinking this is another pretty cathedral is pretty maddening, but I am also at fault for going to places and not knowing why. The Cathedral itself is beautiful, and a quick 5-10 minute run if you're just going to run inside and read everything.

136 лет назад в 13 Марта 1881 г. Игнатий Иоахимович Гриневицкий убил Императора Александра Второго рядом с Михаиловсков Дворцом. В чести Императору, Его сын, Александр Третий встроил новый собор, который называется Спас на Крови.
Я хотел пойти туда сегодня, чтобы чуствовать всёБ которые случилось так давно. Я знал, что многие в соборе не знали, что Александр Второй умер в зтот день, но как они могут знать? Я не знаю всё в мире, и этот собор очень красивый, и можешь ходить внутрь 5-10 минут и всё смотреть.
