Woe is me! My computer is kaputt! I managed to salvage most of my important files, but I will be without a computer until I have the funds to buy a new one. It seems I will be using Smolny's computer as soon as it opens to the students.
Today, my host mom more or less nudged me out the door to go into the city, citing that the weather was wonderful, and that I have been inside for the last few days doing nothing. My boredom due to my broken computer prevailed, and I went out. The city looks amazing in preparation for New Years and Christmas!

New year's eve! I spent it quietly with my host mom, but it was too rainy and cold to even attempt to go to the Palace Square. I went to bed early, but the fireworks, drunks, and friends kept me awake up until 1 am.

Happy New Year! My friend from Krasnodar came up to visit me and see the city, so it seems the next few days will be filled with sight seeing. Of course, we weill be going to all the main tourist spots within the city.

Due to my friend's cold, we had to cut the first day of touring short. But today we went out and actually went aroudn the city! Of course, the cold wind was terrible, and there was nothing we could do about that.

We ended up going to a famous store on Nevsky, The Merchants Eliseev Store. It contains a ghost piano, really delicious macaroons, and everything was horribly expensive. Of course, I found myself in a bad mood, realizing that I overdrafted my bank account, and half-heartedly agreed to go see Chelsea (English Soccer Team) play at a very sleazy location. Chelsea lost, and I'm happy due to me being an Arsenal fan.

My friend departed on the train today to Moscow, and I'm sad to see them go, but what can be done? It's bittersweet, since I quite like being alone sometimes, but I will miss them nonetheless. I also have some money again, thanks to my mom. I can continue my bread and water fasts, and soon, the Kazan Chronicles will begin!

С Рождеством! Today I spent the most part of my day playing on my tablet, and waiting to go watch the new Star Wars film, Rogue One. I went to see it at Angle Terre, which is the hotel where Sergei Esenin killed himself. Yesterday, I went to the movies to go see Assassin's Creed. Needless to say, Michael Fassbender was amazing, as per usual. The last few days have been quiet. My host mom went to Germany to go visit her daughter and granddaughter, and will return once I am in Kazan. All my Russian friends have been to busy with their finals to even spend time with me, so I'm thinking about heading back to the gym if I am healed up enough, or to just wander in the cold till my limbs fall off. Oh, the choices of life.
